Topps 2013 Star Wars Galactic Files Series 2

These cards came out earlier this month and my local comic shop just got them in. I would love to collect them, but they are kinda pricey. $6 per pack! And they are a hobby exclusive. Which means they won't be available at Target or Walmart. Plus there are 350 base cards as well as a ton of insert cards. Ugh! I did buy three packs though and was lucky enough to pull a sketch card. I'll probably just buy a pack or two every time I go to my comic shop until he runs out.

Han Solo In Carbonite Ice Cubes

 

For my birthday back at the end of July, my son bought me this Han Solo In Carbonite silicone ice tray. I finally used it this past weekend and here are the results. It's kind of hard to see. But, they looked pretty cool. Might have to try it with a colored liquid.

Henry Polic II, R.I.P.

TV actor Henry Polic II has lost his battle with cancer at the age of 68. The "Webster" star passed away on Sunday, according to his longtime manager Brad Lemack.

Polic began his TV career as the Sheriff of Nottingham in the 1975 Mel Brooks series "When Things Were Rotten." In the '80s, he became a regular on the TV show "Webster," playing Jerry Silver.

He went on to voice Dr. Jonathan Crane/The Scarecrow on "Batman: The Animated Series" and appeared in the "Monster Squad," "Alice," "Mork & Mindy," "Eight is Enough," "Murder She Wrote," "Sheena," and "Saved By the Bell."

He also landed work in several films, including "The Last Remake of Beau Geste," "All You Need," "Bring Him Home," "The Trial of Old Drum," "Oh God," "Book II" and Joan River's comedy "Rabbit Test."

He also made a name for himself in the theatre world, starring and directing in a number of local productions across the U.S.

A memorial scholarship fund has been established in Polic's name at his alma mater, Florida State University, benefiting the School of Theatre's annual productions.

Karen Black, R.I.P.

Actress Karen Black has passed away according to the Facebook page The Real Karen Black. I will always remember her from the TV movie Trilogy of Terror. Rest in peace.

She is noted for appearing in such films as Easy Rider, Five Easy Pieces, The Great Gatsby, Rhinoceros, The Day of the Locust, Nashville, Airport 1975, and Alfred Hitchcock's final film, Family Plot. Over the course of her career, she won two Golden Globe Awards (out of three nominations), and an Academy Award nomination in 1970 for Best Supporting Actress, among numerous other honors. On August 8, 2013, her husband Stephen Eckelberry announced on his Facebook page that she had passed away from bladder cancer at the age of 74.

Tattoo Update

 

A couple of days after I got my Incredible Hulk tattoo, I noticed that was leg was turning red and starting to swell up. I went back to the tattoo shop to ask them about it. The co-owner of the shop (also a registered nurse) took me in a back room and looked at my leg. She said it looked like I had cellulitis and if it didn't clear up in three days I should see a doctor. When I got home I googled cellulitis.

Needless to say, I didn't wait three days. I went to the doctor the next day and he prescribed an antibiotic. I've been on them for five days now and my leg is looking a little better. The swelling has went down and it's not as red. Hopefully it will clear up soon.

I told my wife that if I lose my leg, I want to have it stuffed so that I can still admire my tattoo. Then I'll get a peg-leg and become a pirate. She doesn't think that's funny. :)

My Incredible Hulk Tattoo

I got my very first tattoo Saturday! I figured I'd better do it now because who knows what it will look like when I'm 80. :)

I knew I wanted a classic Sal Buscema Hulk. The 70s and early 80s were my favorite era of the Hulk. So I found a picture online and made an appointment at a local tattoo shop. I had it done at Empire Ink by tattoo artist Frank Miller.

Being my first tattoo, I wasn't sure what to expect. The outline wasn't too bad. But when he started adding the color it felt like he was burning off hunks of my flesh. I've never felt so much pain in my life! But, I survived and I love it. Plus, it's been "leaking". I was a little worried about that because ink was running down my leg. I was told it was plasma and should stop after a couple of days. That's a relief, my wife thought I might need to have my leg amputated. lol

Happy Birthday To Me!!!

It's that time of year again: MY BIRTHDAY!!! Yay me!

I had a really swell birthday weekend. Saturday morning went to Golden Corral for the breakfast buffet with the family. They had deep fried bacon! I thought it would be awesome, but it was just ok. I still prefer regular bacon.

Saturday afternoon I got my Hulk tattoo. Don't let anyone fool you. It hurt like crazy! I'll make a separate tattoo post in a little bit.

Sunday afternoon I saw The Wolverine. I really enjoyed it. Even though it wasn't completely comic book accurate.

And today I noticed I got my own Google Doodle! I have a Google + account that I don't use. Am I the only one that can see this? Or does the whole world know it's my birthday.  lol

Goodwill Finds

I bought this stuff at the beginning of June at the Goodwill Outlet store. I took pictures of them and then forgot to post them. Better late than never. I believe I only paid 35¢ for each item. I love the outlet store!
