Cheap DVD's At Big Lots

If you love DVD's, check out your nearest Big Lots. They have hundreds of them for $3.00 each. And not your cheap, low-quality dollar store DVD's, either. Classics from the 1930's right up until the last few years. I heard about this from a post at The Manchester Morgue. Click the link to see a partial list of what might be available at your local store.

My wife and I went to two different Big Lots and bought a total 18 DVD's. There were a few more we wanted, but we put them back. Maybe after next payday we'll hit a couple more stores and see what else we can find. This is what we got --

My Picks --

Bubba Ho-Tep: Collector's Edition (2003)
"X" The Man With The X-Ray Eyes (1963)
The Dunwich Horror (1970)
Killer Klowns From Outer Space (1988)
Invasion Of The Body Snatchers (1978)
Rollerball (1975)
The Ghoul (1933)
Swamp Thing (1982)
Konga (1961)
Bright Lights, Big City (1988)
Roadie (1980)
Johnny Be Good (1988)

My Wife's Picks --

Howling II: Your Sister Is A Werewolf (1986)
Sex And The Teenage Mind (2003)
Fuzz (1972)
The Crocodile Hunter: Collision Course: Special Edition (2002)
Another You (1991)
Piñata: Survival Island (2002)

I need to get out to a Big Lots just for a copy of Bubba Ho-Tep alone! That movie is so great.

I have it on tape somewhere but all my tapes are packed up in storage boxes as it always seems like too big a bother to mess with them when I can just watch something on demand or pop in a dvd so I never see some of my favorite movies anymore.

Good haul you got there:) Looks like you did get a lot of the same stuff I picked up, including Roadie which I went back and got yesterday. I'm a little upset though, I bought Bubba Ho-Tep when it first came out for something like $21, but I'm glad other people are able to get it and like 6 other movies for the same price. Hilarious movie, that.

What, no Rollerball remake?;)

Thanks for the heads up! I shudder to think what got put back on the shelf in favor of Piñata: Survival Island though, ha ha! I mean, how terrifying or threatening is a demon trapped inside a paper piñata anyway?

bah! The local big lots sucks compared to others it seems. They only had two little shelves of movies and all I found was Amityville Horror and the remake of it. Given the lack of anything else good I would have picked up Piñata if they had it :P

phelpster -- I passed on the Rollerball remake. I've never actually seen the original, but I've heard good things about it.

karswell -- I didn't pick Piñata: Survival Island, my wife did. I had to let her get what she wanted since I got 12 DVD's and she only got six. She has no appreciation for the classics :)

Thanks for the heads up. I stopped in and picked up American Splendor, Carrie, and all of the Pink Panther I could find. I appreciate your blog and the time you put into it. Keep up the good work!

Hiya, just thought I'd put in my two cents, as I'm an employee at the said-store...

Yeah, we got a lot of DVD's :P And they're all pretty good. I mean, yeah, there's a lot of dime-store crap reference-movies I guess, but there's some really good ones too.

Hell, our Big Lots had Oscar-winning special edition films :D
