Dennis Burkley, R.I.P.

Wow! I remember him guest starring in pretty much everything in the 70s and 80s. Rest in peace Mr. Burkley.

From EW.com --

Character actor and filmmaker Dennis Burkley — known for his voice role as Principal Moss on the animated comedy King of the Hill — has died, agent David Ankrum confirmed to EW. He was 67.

Burkley is survived by wife Laura, daughter Shannan, and son Shawn, who told The Hollywood Reporter that his father has been battling health issues for some time. To EW, he added, “He was a great father as well as a great actor. He stayed with my mom in Hollywood where marriages don’t last very long. He cared deeply about his family.”

Along with his voice work on the Emmy-winning Fox animated sitcom, Burkley was a distinct character actor, playing burly, intimidating men on shows such as The Rockford Files, The Dukes of Hazzard, Who’s the Boss?, and My Name Is Earl. He also starred as Sanford’s Southern-born junkyard partner in the Sanford & Son sequel Sanford and had a recurring role on Hill Street Blues as the tough biker Sonny Crockett.

More recently, Burkley wrote, directed, and produced indie comedy Repetition in 2005. His latest project was as director of the 2012 film short The Painted Woman.

Wow, sad news. Not sure what I remember him from, maybe it is just a compilation of everything from the 70s and 80s.

To Dennis Burkley,
You were a very talented actor. You were just fantastic as Dozer in the movie Mask. My prayers are with you and your family. Lisa Weiner
