Scream Awards 2007

Spike TV gave out Sream Awards a couple of days ago. It was billed as "The Best in Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Horror and Comics voted by you!" If you missed it, you can go here to watch some highlights.

The Pumpkin Patch

Sunday we took our annual trek to Dussel Farm in Brimfield, OH to buy some pumpkins. We refer to it as "The Pumpkin Patch". They sell all sizes of pumpkins and gourds from 50¢ to $15.00. We bought four pumpkins, a mini bale of hay with a little scarecrow sticking out of it and some hot apple cider. Here's some photos --

My son and I hollowed out all of the pumpkins and he carved a cat (from a stencil) on the small one. We still have to carve the other ones. My son also washed and baked the seeds (mmm, mmm good).

Haunted Attractions

Saturday, we took our son and his friend to the Carnival of Horrors at Blossom Music Center in Cuyahoga Falls, OH. My wife and I waited in the car and ate overpriced and outdated caramel apples while the kids went in. They came out about an hour later and said they really enjoyed it. I guess that's not too bad for $15.

I originally downloaded this from the Pop Debris blog in 2005 (I don't think that blog is around anymore, is it?). The zip file contains "The Lurch" and the B-side "Wesley".

Happy Birthday Bela!

Today is Bela Lugosi's birthday. If he were alive today he would be 125 years old.

Here's a mini biography from The Internet Movie Database --

Born Be'la Ferenc Dezso Blasko on October 20, 1882, Lugos, Hungary (now Lugoj, Romania) . The youngest of four children. During WWI, volunteered and was commissioned as an infantry lieutenant. Wounded three times. Married Ilona Szmik (1917 - 1920) Arrived in New York City in December, 1920. Married Ilona von Montagh (? - ?) Became an American citizen 1931. Married Lillian Arch (1933 - 1951) Father of Bela Legosi Jr. (1938 - ?). Helped organize the Screen Actors Guild in the mid-30's, joining as member number 28. Died of a heart attack August 16, 1956. Buried in his full Dracula costume, including a cape.
