Tricks-Or-Treats

Tonight was Trick-Or-Treat here in Akron. It was from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. By 6:30 I gave out the last of my 114 pieces of candy. I gave out Snickers, Butterfingers, Kit Kats, 100 Grand, Sweet Tarts and SpongeBob Squarepants Gummy Crabby Patties. It went much better than last year.I'm pretty sure this is the same skeleton I took a picture of last year.

Nice job!
And what, if I may, was playing
on the little boombox I saw outside?
And so you know, I've had kids come here once in the last 18 years.
I was so happy that one time I gave them everything. All of it.
Alas, they moved soon after.
Thanks for all the posts during this Great Season.
peace.

Thanks for the comments Raven.

The boombox was playing a CD I made with classic Halloween songs, horror movie and TV themes and sound effects.

I'm wondering if you remember an old kids activity book that had stickers with fake names of products like "stove plop" and "pounce" instead of stove top stuffing and bounce detergent.
It was all Halloween based and I had it in the late 70's or very early eighties.

Found your great site via WFMU. It's halfway through November now, but I've bookmarked your site.

I was wondering if kids in Akron &/or Ohio &/or the U.S. go trick-or-treating on the Saturday evening on or before Halloween?

In Canada they always go on Halloween, no matter what day of the week it is...

Tim -- I'm not sure what that is. It kind of sounds like Wacky Packages. But, I don't think they had an activity book.

Brian -- Welcome to the Wonderful Wonderblog! As far as I know, trick-or-treating in the US is up to the individual city. Akron just started city-wide trick-or-treating a few years ago. It's on the Saturday before Halloween. Some cities do it on Halloween night. And some cities leave it up to the the local communities to plan it themselves.

Cool! That means some years kids can get candy and then can look forward to the 31st for an entire week!
