An American Idea (Disc 1007)

I had hoped to share all of these An American Idea albums by July 4th. Well, that ain't gonna happen. I've had over six months to rip these records and I didn't do it. I suck.

Anyhoo, here's Disc 1007. It features air dates January 12, 1976 to February 7, 1976.

An American Idea (Disc 1006)

I originally shared this over at FaLaLaLaLa.com at Christmastime. I hope to have the other ones done by July 4th. I'm still not real good at scanning covers, so this photo comes from an eBay auction.
In 1975 Susquehanna Stations produced (I believe) seven two-record sets called An American Idea. They were provided to radio stations to play a track almost every day from July 1975 until July 1976 in celebration of the Bicentennial. I found five of the seven sets at a local thrift store. My share today is Disc 1006 which features air dates December 15, 1975 to January 10, 1976. They're not all Christmas related, but I thought I would share the whole record.

From inside the jacket --

"AN AMERICAN IDEA" is the unique and dynamic series of radio vignettes developed by The Susquehanna Stations in conjunction with our nation's Bicentennial observance, and heard on America's greatest radio stations.

More than three years of development lie behind the painstakingly-researched and expertly-produced vignettes, approximately one minute in length, heard by thousands of loyal listeners, six days weekly, through the celebration of the 200th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1976!

This compelling program series deals with the broad scope of American history, realizing that America is the product of hundreds of years' effort by millions of people...not just the creation of a few well-known men of the late 18th Century; and highlights a variety of people, places and events which contributed to America's greatness.
