DeBord's 25th Annual Halloween Party

This was the DeBord's 25th year hosting a Halloween party and it was a little different than past years. Due to the 'Rona they couldn't hold it in a park with vendors, wrestling, belly dancers, food trucks, etc. etc. Instead they held it in their backyard where it originally started 2½ decades ago.

The guest list was by invitation only, luckily I was invited. The food was covered dish, they had spooky music playing, games for adults and kids with prizes, a door prize, a giant inflatable movie screen showing Ghostbusters, fire eaters, pumpkin carving and a pizza eating contest. I participated in the pizza eating contest for the first time this year. I didn't win.

Hopefully things will be back to normal next year and they can have a big festival again. You can check out some photos I shared from past years here. Now, here's this year's pics.

I brought Halloween Cheese Curls.

Some of the decorations.

Inflatable movie screen.

CJ's Pumpkin Patch

I didn't know they made Halloween port-o-potties!

Pizza eating contest hosted by local Horror Host legend Lil' John.

I didn't win.

One of the games they played was throw a wadded up piece of paper into the cauldron on the garage. I came in second.

Photobombed by a Pokemon!

The front yard.

Fire starter!

That's hot!

Pumpkin carving with the kids.

Michael Myers showed up late.

Where Have I Been?

Sorry I haven't been blogging much lately. I didn't have an internet connection for almost a week! Man that really sucked. I was going through withdrawals. It's taken me three days just to catch up on everything. Plus I've been working a lot of overtime and I'm just really tired. I've also started to gather stuff for this years Countdown to Halloween. I hope I'll be able to make a post-a-day for October (we'll see).

But, now I'm back. I have a few blog posts I'm working on and hope to have them up in the very near future.

Until then, enjoy this photo of a zebra I took at an animal park a few years ago.

What Kind of Dungeons and Dragons Character Would You Be?

I saw this over at Electronic Cerebrectomy and thought I'd give it a try --

I Am A: True Neutral Human Bard (5th Level)

Ability Scores:
Strength-12
Dexterity-12
Constitution-12
Intelligence-13
Wisdom-11
Charisma-11

Alignment:
True Neutral A true neutral character does what seems to be a good idea. He doesn't feel strongly one way or the other when it comes to good vs. evil or law vs. chaos. Most true neutral characters exhibit a lack of conviction or bias rather than a commitment to neutrality. Such a character thinks of good as better than evil after all, he would rather have good neighbors and rulers than evil ones. Still, he's not personally committed to upholding good in any abstract or universal way. Some true neutral characters, on the other hand, commit themselves philosophically to neutrality. They see good, evil, law, and chaos as prejudices and dangerous extremes. They advocate the middle way of neutrality as the best, most balanced road in the long run. True neutral is the best alignment you can be because it means you act naturally, without prejudice or compulsion. However, true neutral can be a dangerous alignment because it represents apathy, indifference, and a lack of conviction.

Race:
Humans are the most adaptable of the common races. Short generations and a penchant for migration and conquest have made them physically diverse as well. Humans are often unorthodox in their dress, sporting unusual hairstyles, fanciful clothes, tattoos, and the like.

Class:
Bards often serve as negotiators, messengers, scouts, and spies. They love to accompany heroes (and villains) to witness heroic (or villainous) deeds firsthand, since a bard who can tell a story from personal experience earns renown among his fellows. A bard casts arcane spells without any advance preparation, much like a sorcerer. Bards also share some specialized skills with rogues, and their knowledge of item lore is nearly unmatched. A high Charisma score allows a bard to cast high-level spells.

Jury Duty

I don't usually rant. I'm not much of a ranter. But, this is kinda pissing me off. I've been called for jury duty and I don't want to go.

Jurors are randomly selected from the pool of registered voters in my county. This is the fourth time I've been called in my 25 years of voting. Can I UNregister to vote?

It's not that I'm not patriotic, I love the good ol' USA. It's just a big pain in the arse to do this. For starters, I don't drive. My wife will drop me off at the courthouse before she goes to work. Which means I will be there over an hour early. I have to call her when I'm done. She'll have to leave work to pick me up.

Also, having to interact with people I don't know makes me very uncomfortable. I don't even like to call to order a pizza. I'll probably get myself all worked up and vomit.

It says this in big, bold and underlined letters on the summons --

FAILURE TO RESPOND TO SUMMONS OR APPEAR FOR JURY DUTY WILL SUBJECT YOU TO POSSIBLE CONTEMPT OF COURT PROCEEDINGS OR FINE AS PROVIDED BY OHIO LAW

I can't believe that in this day and age I am being bullied by the government to do something against my will! Whatever.

End of rant.

The Empire Strikes Back Virtual Sticker Generator

I read about this on the Official Star Wars Blog. It's a virtual sticker generator using the vintage Topps Empire Strikes Back stickers. I clicked the generate button until I got all of the letter outlines the same color.

I'm Moving On Up...

I'm not moving to the East side or to a deluxe apartment. I'm moving to a bigger house. Started about a week and a half ago and the big move will be the weekend after Thanksgiving. It's been a pain in the arse trying to pack up all of my junk collectibles. Once we're done moving, it will be wonderful. The house is much bigger and my wife is letting me have my own toy room. :) The attic is split into two rooms and they are mine, ALL MINE!!! Well, mostly mine. I'll have to use part of one room for storage.

I'm gonna try to post the TV Theme Song compilation and maybe something for Thanksgiving. We'll see.

Gotta get back to packing boxes. See ya in the funny papers!

Hartville MarketPlace And Flea Market

I will be selling some junk stuff at the Hartville Flea Market this Monday, September 3rd. I'm bringing tons of books, videos, comic books, trading cards, games, puzzles and whatever else I can find. If you're not doing anything on Monday, stop by and say hello. The flea market is HUGE. Located in Hartville, Ohio, it is approximately 1 hour South of Cleveland, 20 minutes South of Akron, and 20 minutes North of Canton. Click on the link above to get full directions.

Here's a description from their website --

"The Hartville MarketPlace is a 100,000-square-foot two-story building which houses more than 110 individually-owned shops. You can shop comfortably year-round because of the heating and air conditioning systems. You can find an array of items ranging from fresh meat, cheese and produce to t-shirts, books, furniture, candles, floral arrangements, hand-crafted jewelry and much more. There are even sports cards stores and a toy store for the kids. There is something here for all ages!

You can also enjoy a meal or snack at Sarah's Grille. They serve an array of items such as pancakes, biscuits and gravy, Hartville Kitchen soup, hand-rolled pretzels, hot dogs, burgers, ice cream and more. Sarah's Grille opens at 7 a.m. every Market day.

The Hartville Flea Market is the outdoor market behind the MarketPlace building, which contains 200 covered pavilion vendor spaces and 800 blacktop vendor spaces. The busiest time for the Flea Market is May through October, but you can find bargains there all year.

The new Flea Market is on more than 20 acres of blacktop, which makes for easier walking. The pavilion has a roof over head, so you can shop for bargains even in the rain. It has become one of Ohio's largest flea markets and an antique collector's paradise.

Our 68th Annual Labor Day Weekend Flea Market Special will be held on Saturday, Sept. 1 and Monday, Sept. 3 (CLOSED SUNDAY). This is usually one of our biggest weekends of the year, with hundreds of outdoor vendors and thousands of shoppers. For the best time to shop, arrive around 7 a.m. Just keep an eye on the weather! If it is nice both days, Monday will be the bigger day."

After you're done shopping, you can eat at The Hartville Kitchen --

"The Hartville Kitchen provides the best in homestyle cooking. We use only the finest ingredients. Real mashed potatoes, fresh chicken and beef, delicious vegetables, homemade dinner rolls and a selection of twenty-one pies for dessert make us a very popular destination in this area!

Step through the distinctive doorway and experience the charm of our unique restaurant. From the cordial greeting of our hostesses to our staff of friendly waitresses, everyone will make your dining experience both enjoyable and memorable. Enjoy large portions of delicious food served in our spacious 440-seat dining room..."
