7-Inch Halloween Records

I apologize for not posting much during this year's Countdown to Halloween. I started off the month really excited about posting, but then I just didn't. I'm not sure why. Maybe my blogging days are behind me. There are still a few days left, let's see what I can do. :)

Here are the 7-inch Spooky records in my collection.

R.I.P. Don Wescott

This article was written by Brian AR Washington from the Facebook group Power Records (Children's Records, Books and Tapes)

Another voice is now silent.
Don Wescott has left us; he was one of the many voice talents of Power Records (and Peter Pan during and after the former’s activity).

Born in Massachusetts in 1940, he went into broadcasting in the 1960s and became a voice artist among his many accomplishments.
He narrated the majority of the stories on the labels, including Planet of the ApesWonder WomanMonster Christmas Mash, and the second Superman album.
For the 12” comic read-along LP A Story of Dracula, Frankenstein and the Wolfman, he was not only the narrator; he voiced several characters, including Dracula and Torc, the latter being one of the gypsies.
Among his versatility, he also voiced Engineer Montgomery “Scotty” Scott, Mr. Mxyztplk, Cornelius, Galen, and Lex Luthor.
Godspeed, Don. May your voice live on in our memories and hearts, especially as long as we spin the records that shaped our childhood.

Thrift Store Score

I just got back late Friday night from a five day trip to Virginia Beach! The wife and I had a great time. While there I went to three different comic book/toy stores and an indoor flea market. I'm going to do posts on each of these over the next couple of days. But first, I wanted to do a quick post about some stuff I picked up at the Salvation Army before I left for vacation.

I got these two records for 99¢ each. Power Records Songs and Stories About the Justice League of America from 1975 and Kid Stuff Records Pink Panther Punk from 1981.

A Care Bears glass and Miss Piggy mug for 49¢ each.

And a book for 69¢. The Secret of the Fortune Wookie: an Origami Yoda book by Tom Angleberger.

I would say that was a pretty good deal for less than four bucks!

Labor Day Flea Market Finds

How's everyone's Labor Day going?

I went to Hartville Marketplace & Flea Market this morning. They are open all year but Labor Day and Memorial Day are there biggest days.

Here's the junk treasures that I bought.

Monster Mash, Frankenstein and The Flintstones small records. He wanted $5 each for them. I said I was only interested in the monster records, so he threw in The Flintstones for free.

1976 King Kong mug and naked Mego Action Jackson for $3 each. Fisher Price Sesame Street Mr. Hooper for $1.

Four old Halloween decorations and two Red Barn Restaurant paper masks for $5. Four Halloween cookie cutters for $2.

Dynamite magazine for $2 and 18 unopened packs of Battlestar Galactica cards for $10.

And I also bought a bunch of fruits and vegetables. But I didn't take pictures of them.

The Halloween and monster stuff  will be showcased during the October Countdown to Halloween.

I hope everyone in the USA is enjoying there holiday!
