Anyone else find any deals?

Bonfires and Acorn Candy Cookies

Saturday night my wife and I went to a bonfire that friends of ours has every year. There was plenty of eating, drinking and talking. It was really fun.

We made Acorn Candy Cookies. Here's the recipe.

Ingredients:
Mini Nilla Wafers
Hershey's Kisses (we used the almond ones)
Butterscotch Chips (or pumpkin spice chips)
Frosting/Icing

Smear a small amount of frosting onto the flat bottom of a candy kiss. Press onto the flat bottom of the vanilla wafer. Smear a little more frosting onto the flat bottom of a butterscotch chip, and press onto the rounded top of the cookie. Repeat with remaining ingredients. Set aside to dry, about 30 minutes.

That's it! They are really easy to make. But, they are a little time consuming.

Trick Or Treat 2016

Beggar's Night was on Saturday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM here in Akron. I made up 39 treat bags for the kids and had 25 of them left after two hours. Trick or Treat just ain't what it used to be. On the plus side it was 75° outside. That's the warmest I remember it being in a long while.

Give Me Something Good To Eat...

We had trick or treat here in Akron, OH Saturday night from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. It was around 50 degrees out and I was freezing! I'm not usually that cold, but I recently shaved my head and I don't go outside that often. My wife brought me hot cocoa in my Spider-Man mug. she's a swell gal!

The big bag of candy I bought was mostly Whoppers. I counted 43 Whoppers, 19 Kit Kats, 17 Hershey's and 16 Reese's. I think I put together around 51 treat bags and ended up giving out about 40 of them.

I didn't see any really cool costumes, half the kids didn't even wear one. One cool thing though was the new neighbors across the street. For some reason we have a large amount of people from Nepal immigrating to our area. I think that's where they are from. Anyway, one guy stood on his car while another guy was in the porch window. They held a rope with a pinata on it and all of the kids got a whack at it. It was neat watching that. And then they all came over to my house and got more candy.

After trick or treat was over, the wife and I went to Outback Steakhouse and then to the movies. We saw Goosebumps. I thought it was a pretty good flick.

How I Spent My Easter

Back on March 28, my wife and I went to Eggshelland!

Easter morning baskets. Lots of candy and a few packs of trading cards.

My wife tried a new way to color eggs. Shake an egg in rice with food color. It makes a speckled egg.

I went the traditional method with a good ol' Paas kit.

My wife made ham and her famous beans for Easter dinner at my in-laws.

My mother-in-law made deviled egg peeps.

The food was messy, but very good!

How was your Easter?

Halloween Clearance and A Thank You

I want to thank everyone who visited Wonderful Wonderblog during The Countdown To Halloween. Halloweentime is probably my favorite time of the year and I love sharing spooky stuff on my blog! I hope I entertained at least a few people with my posts. I think I have enough Halloween cutouts to do this again next year. Thanks again for stopping by, I really appreciate it!

Of course I hit some of the after Halloween clearance sales. I was hoping to find one of those four foot, pre-lit black Halloween trees. I saw them earlier in the month, but I'm too cheap to pay full price. :)  Of course there weren't any left. But I did buy some ornaments really cheap. I might just pay full price next year for one. Here's what I got --

What Happened To Trick-Or-Treating?

Last night was trick-or-treat here in Akron, OH from 5 PM until 7 PM. I made 40 treat bags to give out to the little beggars. I had 26 of them left at the end of the night. Last year I gave out 56 bags, two years ago around 60 and three years ago 32. The temperature was in the low 40s and shortly after 5:30 we had some freezing rain for about a minute. Was it too cold out? Do kids not trick-or-treat anymore? Or do they just not come down my street. I don't know. I hope for a better turn out next year.
