Larry Hagman, R.I.P.
Larry Hagman, the North Texas native who played the conniving and mischievous J.R. Ewing on the TV show Dallas, died Friday at a Dallas hospital. He was 81.
Mr. Hagman died at 4:20 p.m. Friday at Medical City Dallas Hospital from complications of his recent battle with cancer, members of his family said.
“Larry was back in his beloved Dallas, re-enacting the iconic role he loved most,” the family said in a statement. “Larry’s family and close friends had joined him in Dallas for the Thanksgiving holiday. When he passed, he was surrounded by loved ones. It was a peaceful passing, just as he had wished for. The family requests privacy at this time.”
The iconic role of J.R. Ewing metamorphosed Mr. Hagman’s life. He rocketed from being a merely well-known TV actor on I Dream of Jeannie and the son of Broadway legend Mary Martin, to the kind of transnational fame known only by the likes of the Beatles and Muhammad Ali.
Mr. Hagman made his home in California with his wife of nearly 60 years, the former Maj Axelsson. Despite obvious physical frailty, he gamely returned to Dallas to film season one of TNT’s Dallas reboot and part of season two.
Linda Gray's agent, Jeffrey Lane, said the actress was at Mr. Hagman's bedside when he died, according to The Sun in London. He said another co-star, Patrick Duffy, was also present. “They had been friends for 35 years and they had worked together for many years, so obviously it is devastating," Mr. Lane told The Sun.

Akron Comicon Review - Part 1
Wow! What a great show. The first ever Akron Comicon was a huge success. I would like to thank the organizers, vendors, guests and fans for making this happen. I was there to cover the con for the Akron Empire blog. But, I was also there as a fan. I'm splitting this review in three parts. Part 1 will cover some of the guests. Part 2 will cover all the great cosplayers that were there. And part 3 will cover some of the vendors and stuff I bought. I'm already looking forward to next year.

Akron Comicon
Akron Comicon is an event established to help promote newspaper comics and comic-books as an original American art form and viable entertainment medium by bringing creators, dealers, and fans together for a day of fun and interaction designed for the entire family.
Akron Comicon is a one day event scheduled to take place at the University of Akron Student Union Ballroom on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at 303 Carroll Street, Akron, Ohio 44325 from 10am to 6pm.
General admission tickets cost $10 at the door. Admission for Senior Citizens is $5. University Student tickets are $5 with a student I.D. All children age 10 and under are free.
Of our thirty-eight creators, fifteen have been or are working professionals in the comic-book industry. Their works have been or are being published by mainstream publishers in the industry including Archie Comics, DC Comics, Image Comics, and Marvel Comics. The distinguished group includes: Darryl Banks, Mike W. Barr, Tom Batiuk, David Michael Beck, Craig Boldman, Norm Breyfogle, Gerry Conway, Bob Ingersoll, Tony Isabella, Sean Mcardle, P. Craig Russell, Mike Sangiacomo, Joe Staton, Marc Sumerak, and Chris Yambar.
