The Marx Toy Museum Has Closed

The Marx Toy Museum in Moundsville, WV closed it's doors for good today (June 30). I only got to visit it once a little over five years ago on June 22, 2011. I was hoping to make it there one last time before they closed, but that never happened. Here's the pictures I took while I was there. It's mostly pictures of toys I owned as a child or wish I did. Sadly, I'm not in any of these photos, but my wife's in one! :)

For more info check out the Marx Toy Museum website and Facebook page.

Funko Sunday

Walked into my local Walgreens earlier this week and they had the four exclusive Star Wars Pop!s that came out in April. I did manage to find Ree-Yees back then. I was pretty excited to add Kit Fisto, Plo Koon and AT-AT Driver to my collection.

New Micronauts Toys!!!

I love the original Mego Micronauts! It's probably my favorite toyline from my youth. I'm sure I won't be able to afford these exclusives, but hopefully they will lead to a new retail line of figures.

From The Hollywood Reporter --

This year, one of the biggest things Hasbro will be bringing to San Diego Comic-Con will be very small indeed.

Ahead of the announced Micronauts movie — part of a shared universe with other Hasbro properties including Transformers and G.I. Joe — the toy manufacturer will be resurrecting the original Micronauts toy line as an exclusive for the annual southern California pop culture event in July.

The Micronauts Classic Collection set is a limited-edition collection featuring recreations of figures from the Mego toyline that existed between 1976 and 1980. The set will feature three characters: Galactic Warrior, Pharoid and Orbital Defender, each with multiple points of articulation and interchangeable parts, with the packaging for the set featuring new artwork from Ken Kelly.

The set will debut at Comic-Con, with a limited number also being available online at HasbroToyShop.com after the show and at Fan Expo Canada (held Sept. 1-4 at the Metro Toronto Convention Center).

Funko Sunday!

I had a pretty good haul this week!

Last weekend I went to several different Kohl's looking for the exclusive 75th Anniversary Captain America Pop! None of them had any, but one said they thought they were coming in this week. He took my name and number and said he'd call me. I got the call on Tuesday! Yay!

On Saturday I went to Barnes & Noble's and bought three Mystery Minis. I got an Iron Man I already had and two new ones. Kane w/ Facehugger is a rare 1/72. Scarlet Witch is a common. Not too shabby. :)

Here's my Top 10 in my collection according to the Pop! Price Guide:

I Met 'Rollo' From Sanford and Son Today!

Today was a pretty good Father's Day. We went to my in-laws house and had a cook out. It was me, my wife, our son, his girlfriend, and my mother and father-in-law. FIL grilled hamburgers, hot dogs, ka-bobs, and corn on the cob. My wife made a fruit pizza. Everything was wonderful!

After that my wife and I went to the Hard Rock Rocksino Northfield Park. They had the original truck from Sanford and Son and a free meet and greet with actor Nathaniel "Rollo" Taylor. He was really cool. My wife and I also played a few slot machines and left with $35 more than we came in with!

It was a pretty good Father's Day! :)

Janet Waldo, R.I.P.

I posted her death notice on the FB page earlier, but I wanted to say a little more about her here.

I have always loved cartoons and Janet Waldo did voices in many of my favorites. Besides Judy Jetson, she was Lana Lang in the 1960s Superman cartoons, Granny Sweet in The Atom Ant Show, Penelope Pitstop in Wacky Races, Josie in Josie and the Pussycats, Morticia in The Addams Family cartoon, Princess in Battle of the Planets, Hogatha in The Smurfs, and so many more. Rest in peace Ms. Waldo. I will miss your voice.

From ew.com --

Janet Waldo, the prolific voice actress best known for her role as The Jetsons’  eldest daughter Judy, has died, her daughter confirms to ABC News. Waldo was 96.

In addition to her work as the animated teen of the future, Waldo voiced a number of Hanna-Barbera cartoon characters, ranging from Penelope Pitstop to Josie and the Pussycats’ Josie. Her last credited voice work came in 2000, when she reprised Pitstop in a Wacky Races video game.

Waldo, who passed away on Sunday morning, was diagnosed with a benign but inoperable brain tumor five years ago, says daughter Lucy Lee.

Born in Washington in 1920, Waldo began her career with an uncredited role in the 1938 film Cocoanut Grove, going on to do steady work in radio. In 1952, she appeared in an episode of I Love Lucy and went on to make television appearances on programs like The Andy Griffith Show, Get Smart, and Petticoat Junction before transitioning to animation. The Jetsons ran from 1962-1987.

Funko Sunday!

I'm a huge fan of stuff made by Funko! I've become quite addicted lately and I usually get at least a couple of pieces for my collection every week. So, I thought I'd share them every Sunday night. At least that's my plan for now, but don't hold me to it. :)

Let me know if you collect anything Funko!

Here's what I picked up this weekend. A Horror Classics Series 2 Mystery Minis empty display box. Adam Bomb GPK Mystery Mini, I was really happy to get this one! And a The Nightmare Before Christmas Devil ReAction figure. I got all of these at Target.

Here's what I got last week. I posted this on Wonderful Wonderblog's Facebook page last week, but I'm going to start putting them on the actual blog now.

Here's a picture of most of my collection from a few weeks ago.

Lastly, there is a Pop! icon generator on the Japanese Funko site. I made Pop!s of me, my wife,  our son and his girlfriend.
