Steel City Con Part 3: Stuff I Didn't Buy

Of course I saw a ton of stuff I would like to have, but just didn't have the funds for it.

I actually have most of these cards. But, it was really cool seeing them all together like this.

 MEGOS!

 Star Wars costumes.

 More Megos.

Shogun Warriors! I wanted that Hulk cup.

More Shogun Warriors. I just need that Hulk's shirt.

 Remco Monsters!

 A buck an Anakin!

 Love this Creature!

I had this Marvel Comics Super Heroes Card Game when I was a kid.

 More old wax packs.

A whole bunch of awesome right here.

I had Oh Hell. I have The Six Million Dollar Man. I wish I had Land of the Lost and The Monster Squad.

G.I. Joe USS Flagg. This thing is frickin' huge!

Steel City Con Part 2: Celebrities

I meant to do this post a couple of days ago but, I got sidetracked. When Robin Williams died, I spent a lot of time just reading stories about him and last night I went to the Motley Crue and Alice Cooper concert. They both still rock!  \m/

Here's part 2 of my review of Steel City Con.

There were many cool celebrity guests at the show. The one I wanted to meet the most was Billy Dee Williams. I'm a HUGE Star Wars fan! I have a photo from The Empire Strikes Back featuring Darth Vader, Lando Calrissian and Boba Fett that I bought from (and got autographed by) Dave Prowse in 1997. In 2006 I met Jeremy Bulloch at a show and had him sign it. And now, 17 years after I originally got the photo, I have Billy Dee Williams's autograph on it. His signature set me back $40 and they wanted another $45 to get your picture taken with him. I didn't get my picture taken with him. But I did take a picture of him signing my photo. I also watched the Q&A with him. It was fun.

I also met Margot Kidder. Lois Lane from the Christopher Reeves Superman movies. Her prices were a lot more reasonable. She only charged $20 if you brought your own item to sign and you could get your picture taken with her for free. I brought a trading card from the 1980 Topps Superman II card set for her to sign.

I didn't have enough cash to get any other autographs. But I did take some pictures of  the celebs at there booths while they were signing for other people. Also, Butch Patrick and Pat Priest (Eddie and Marilyn Munster) were there, but I already have there autographs.

There were also famous replica movie and TV cars at the show. You were allowed to take pictures of them, but if you wanted to sit in the car and play with the controls you had to pay $10 each. Again, I didn't pay for that privilege.

Billy Dee Williams Q&A.

Billy Dee autographing my photo.

Star Wars autograph trifecta!

Margot and me.

Margot's autograph.

Penny Marshall.

Dean Cain.

Verne Troyer.

1966 Batmobile.

Back To The Future DeLorean.

Ghostbusters Ecto-1.

The Munsters Dragula.

K.I.T.T. from Knight Rider.

Steel City Con Part 1: Stuff I Bought

I had a great time this past Saturday at Steel City Con! It was my first time at this show and I was really impressed. Lots of wonderful toys, celebrities and cosplayers.

I'm going to review the show in four parts. First up is the stuff I bought.

Carded action figures. The Tick Crusading Chameleon, A-Bomb and She-Dragon.

(I don't know why Blogger won't post these pics the right way. I'm too tired to fix them.) Goofy Grape mug, a little Hulk and two D&D figures.

A bunch of packs of cards.

A bunch of single cards.

And a bacon cheeseburger! :)

I'm Going To Steel City Con!

My birthday on Tuesday was pretty uneventful. I worked most of the day. The only highlight was going out to dinner with my family. But, things are looking up! I will get my birthday present from my wife on August 9th. That's when I'll be at the Steel City Con near Pittsburgh! Woohoo! I can't wait!

I've never been to this show. They have toys, comics and celebrity guests. Here's the guests for this show --

I know I won't be able to afford all of the autographs, toys and comics that I want. The main autograph I want to get is Billy Dee Williams. I have this photo already signed by Dave Prowse and Jeremy Bulloch. I would really like to add Billy Dee's autograph to it.

If I can swing it, I'd also like to get Margot Kidder. I'll probably take in a couple celebrity panels and hopefully add some cool items to my collection. I'll be sure to post all about it sometime after I return.

Blogiversary, Birthday and a Giveaway!

Well, I missed the anniversary of Wonderful Wonderblog. On July 18 this blog turned eight years old! Wow! Whoda thunkit? It's kind of hard to believe I've been doing this for that long. I don't post as much as I used to, so I really appreciate everyone that has hung around.

Also, tomorrow (July 29th) is my birthday! I'll be 48 years old! Yikes! In my mind I'm still a little kid playing with toys and reading comic books. But, my body let's me know I'm not that young anymore. :)

So, to celebrate the blogiversary and my birthday, I thought I'd give one loyal fan of Wonderful Wonderblog some gifts. I'm not going to say what they are, because I'm not sure yet. I'll sort through some of my junk treasures and put together a prize package. It'll probably contain some toys, comics, trading cards, etc. All you have to do to enter is leave a comment below. Make sure your email address is in your profile or leave it in your comment. I'll randomly pick a winner in one week on August 4th.

***Giveaway is now closed. Thanks to everyone who entered***

Thanks for checking out Wonderful Wonderblog these past eight years! Now, start leaving those comments!

Oh, one last thing. If anyone would like to get me a belated birthday present, here's some toys that I owned in my youth, but lost track of over the years. LOL

Return To The Estate Sales!

In my last post I said I would return to an estate sale where I bought some lunchboxes and other "junk". Well, I returned last Friday. I also stopped at a couple of other sales.

Let's see what goodies I got this time.

This sale had lots of glasses and mugs. I got these for 50¢ each. A Bud Light Spuds MacKenzie Fright Night mug from 1987. Two Pizza Hut E.T. glasses from 1982. A 1978 Garfield the Cat glass from McDonald's. And a Disney World 25th Anniversary glass from McDonald's.

Also for 50¢ each I got a Superman Cupholder from 1988. A pvc Wizard Mickey Mouse and a rubber ALF (missing two fingers).

At the second sale I got The Official Polish/Italian Joke Book, How To Speak Southern book and a 1980 McDonald's Garfield glass mug. All three for 50¢!

On the third stop of my journey I bought this Tales From The Crypt Crypt Keeper Candelabra from 1996 for $3.00.

And lastly I stopped at a little junk store that just recently opened and bought four more glasses. Two Shrek and two more Disney. All four for $3.00.

I'd say that was another pretty good haul for a total of $10.50.

I think I'm going to have to slow down on my buying. I'm becoming a hoarder and my wife isn't real happy about that. :)

Some "Junk" I Bought At An Estate Sale

I haven't written about the stuff I bought over the July 4th yet, but I couldn't wait to show everyone what I picked up yesterday.

Friday after work, a co-worker and I went to a few estate sales. I didn't find anything at the first two, but I hit the jackpot at the third one. It was wall to wall "stuff". Whoever used to live there was obviously a collector of many things. I was told that they haven't even went through the attic or basement yet. I know where I'll be going next Friday!

Here's what I came home with --

Two metal lunchboxes from 1983. They're not in mint condition but, they should display just fine. The Seasons of Sesame Street lunchbox (made by Aladdin) still had the thermos. I paid $6.00 for it. The Return of the Jedi (Thermos brand) didn't have the thermos. I paid $8.00 for it because, well, it's Star Wars!

Three old horror records for $1.00 each. The Suspense Bela Lugosi record I've never seen before. It's an original radio broadcast with narrative introduction by Bela Lugosi, Jr. It was released by Mark 56 Records in 1973. Drop Dead! An exercise in horror! by Arch Oboler was released by Capitol Records in 1962. Sounds To Make You Shiver! Released by Pickwick in 1974. This was my absolute favorite scary record when I was a kid. I still have my original copy plus another one my brother picked up years ago. So, this makes three! I just can't resist them. Here's a Youtube video featuring side 1 of the album:

Two McDonald's The Great Muppet Caper Miss Piggy glasses from 1981. I already have one of these, but again I can't resist old character glasses cheap. A Miami Dolphins plastic stein. My brother is a Dolphins fan, so this is for him. I paid 50¢ each for these.

A vintage Handy Counter and a Masters of the Universe Battle Cat for 50¢ each. And lastly an Oscar Meyer Wienermobile whistle for $1.00.

I paid a total of $20.50 for all of this. I'm pretty happy with that. I can't wait to go back next week. She said she thinks there are more lunchboxes in the attic!!!
